Timely column with World Cup starting this week and temps in the LA area expected to be high. Brent Suter is young yet, and after his baseball career, he'll be well positioned to contribute in the fight against fossil fuels. Go Brett!
Takes a lot of courage for Brett to speak out against Big Oil at the potential cost of his high paying job. I love the news round up's but I wish there was more progress on the Colorado River negotiations. Are we just waiting for the reservoirs to dry up for states to abandon the pretense of negotiating and start suing each other?
Well that's not good! Thank you for sharing Sammy, on some level it will be fascinating to see how the upper/lower basin division plays out in Congress. Just wish it wasn't over one of the most crucial resources for civilization.
With regard to the fútbol games played in extreme heat, how about the fans in the stadium? I live in the desert where locals are knowledgeable about functioning in temperatures of 100 degrees or so. Not so much the tourists who routinely require emergency medical care….
Definitely a problem, and something FIFA should be working on — informing out-of-town fans coming to hot places. Same goes for host cities. I don't know the status unfortunately.

100%!
Kudos to Suter. He's a mensch1

More bad news on the Colorado today, unfortunately... https://cronkitenews.azpbs.org/2026/06/10/utah-lee-colorado-river-threat/
