Special event: Learn how Harry Reid changed the game
There's finally a book about the legendary Senate leader and unsung environmental champion. Join me for a conversation with Reid's biographer.

There have been few politicians like Harry Reid — for the modern Democratic Party or for the physical landscapes of the American West.
In the first biography of the Nevada senator, publishing next week, veteran political journalist Jon Ralston chronicles Reid’s remarkable life, from his rough-and-tumble upbringing in a remote mining town to his years running the U.S. Senate, where he secured just enough votes to pass Obamacare over Republican opposition. Along the way, he established Great Basin National Park, pressured Nevada’s monopoly electric utility to get out of the coal business, helped jump-start the large-scale solar industry and blocked a nuclear waste repository at Yucca Mountain.
He was also a loyal friend to the mining industry, whatever the environmental costs.
If you want to learn how Reid accomplished all that — and what made him such an effective politician even as the MAGA movement took root — join me on Zoom on Wednesday, January 14 at 12 p.m. PT. I’ll be hosting Jon Ralston for a conversation about his illuminating book, “The Game Changer.”
We’ll discuss Reid’s climate legacy, his fighting spirit, and how his tactics evolved as the Republican Party grew more extreme. Audience questions are encouraged.
